  About Bower Power

  The name is Bower. Katie Bower. And I married that goodlookin’ studmuffin. He’s Jeremy. We are just a couple of suburban Atlantans who decided to write about this crazy adventure called life. Sounds exciting, right? Yeah. It didn’t to us either.
  
  You may be wondering about how we came to be bloggers. Well, I am a 30 year old former homeschooler who has a love for decor, entertaining, jokes and photography. Jeremy (who I affectionately call my boyfriend) is a preacher’s kid who can’t get enough power tools, mountain biking, hanging out with friends, and well, me :) And after we got hitched, bought a house, and started renovating, a blog seemed like the best way to catalog our transformations and update our family without actually picking up a phone or breaking out the stationary. Plus it helped me get the millions of thoughts out of my head without yappin’ Jeremy’s ear off. Along the way, we started adding tidbits of just about everything to this here site…especially when it came to our passions.
  
  Speaking of passions, we would be remiss to leave out our favorite pasttime…raising a little boy named Will. Yeah, we know. Will Bower sounds like Will Power. It could be worse…his name could be Katie Jr. but we decided to name the kid after his father. Don’t worry – that would be Jeremy’s first name. Let’s not get awkward. He was added to our crew in April 2010 and we love knowing that our son is going to be raised in a home that adores home improvement, eating the other white meat, and television almost as much as we love Jesus.
  
  We are excited to unfold this life and we are thrilled that we can share it with you. So we invite you to follow along as we catalog our journey in changing our home, having kids, photography, eating artery cloggin’ food and kicking back with friends and family.

  I love to DIY, be creative about repurposing things, designing & decorating my spaces and getting crafty. I love sharing our budget friendly DIY projects and tutorials. Lucky me – we have an entire farmhouse full of projects that will take us a lifetime to complete. I’m drawn to cottage style…the cozy vacation feel appeals to me and seems fitting for our big old farmhouse but mostly I just do what I love with a mix of styles. “To get something you never had, you have to do something you never did.’” Join me while I turn this farmhouse into our dream home and a blog into a career.

  We are Sara & Mike. We live in the Wood River Valley, Idaho, a beautiful spot tucked in between five mountain ranges. We ramble through life with our two mutts, Franconia and Lemhi. We’re a killer four pack.
  
  We like snow, high elevations, sagebrush, and extreme sports. Sara works for a NGO designing publications and crunching numbers, and Mike spends his work days keeping track of a lot of sheep.
  
  We bought our very first house in April 2010. This ten year old beauty is in great shape, but is in serious need of some styling to make it feel like home. We love to get our hands dirty and do most of the work ourselves, and we hope you’ll join us for all the bloopers and triumphs.

  Mustard Seed Interiors is my antiques and home decor business located in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. I have always loved decorating my own home and the homes of friends and family. Over the past ten years, I have transformed blank walls, thrift store finds, and hand-me-down furniture with a little paint and creativity. In 2008, that hobby became Mustard Seed Interiors.   About The Design Pages

  My diy projects began when I was a small child and spent endless hours ripping out
  images of furniture from catalogs and turning them into my dream home. I shared my
  motherʼs enthusiasm for all things crafty and learned how to sew, knit, cook and design.
  
  Always having regarded my passion for art and design as a hobby, I pursued an
  education in business. After many unhappy years working my way up the corporate
  ladder I decided to return to school to pursue my first love, Interior Design.
  
  Since then I havenʼt looked back. I opened Carol Smyth Colour & Design and Iʼve been
  designing homes for clients in Central and Western Canada. After tackling a few home
  flips Iʼve added this to my list of creative obsessions and Iʼm always on the lookout for
  the next diamond in the rough.
  
  I began blogging as a creative outlet to share my love of DIY. It started out as a way to
  share my home projects with family and friends who live in another province but has
  become much more than that. Another obsession to add to the list perhaps?!
  
  I currently reside in beautiful British Columbia, Canada with my husband, 2 kids and
  trouble-making Pug. Being surrounded by mountains, lakes and ocean has brought a
  new appreciation for nature and the beauty and amazing design that can be found
  outdoors.

  About Thrifty Decor Chick

  Creative has always been in my blood -- my family is full of artistic talents, builders and writers. I first dreamed of being an interior designer when I was 13 years old. That was after my teacher stage and before my decision to follow a career in writing. :)
  
  My degrees are in journalism and public relations, and I enjoyed a ten year career in this field. Along the way, I loved decorating our home and helping friends with theirs. When I had our son a few years ago, looking at him woke something in me. He made me want to follow my dreams.
  
  So that I did. My wonderful hubby supported me when I decided to quit my full time job and pursue my dream of interior decorating. I started working with a local design firm -- first as the owner's assistant, then as a decorator.
  
  I loved that work -- it woke my creative juices even more and I love helping people make their homes more beautiful. But as this blog grew and grew, I knew my heart was here. Since mid-2009 I have focused completely on Thrifty Decor Chick and have thoroughly enjoyed it. It is has been a blessing -- this blog, the people I have met because of it, and the inspiration I get from my readers.
